When and How to Replace the Ionic UV Plasma Air Purifier Germicidal Lamp

When and How to replace the UV germicidal lampWhen to replace:

UV lamps are effective for about 8,000-hour or 12 months of continuous use. The lamp needs to be replaced if there is no “blue glow” inside the unit when the unit operates at the UV mode. The lamp tube can be cheaply bought and quickly replaced.

Oil from fingers will reduce the germicidal performance of the lamp. DO NOT allow fingers to come in contact with the glass.

How to replace:

To replace the lamp, open the rear cover. Turn the lamp ¼ turn (two “clicks”) and slide it out from the fixture base. Consult your local regulations for the proper disposal method of used fluorescent lamps.

When and How to Clean the Ionic UV Plasma Air Purifier

When and How to Clean the Ionic UV Plasma Air PurifierWhen to clean:

Clean the collection blade every one or two weeks. The ‘CLEAN LED’ will turn on with an audible beep sound after two weeks of operation. That indicates it is time to clean the collection blade. Depends on your home air quality, the unit may make audile noise before the ‘CLEAN LED’ turns on. In this case, cleaning of the collection blade and/or a thorough cleaning of the unit is necessary.

Please note that audible noise from the air purifier indicates cleaning of the collection blade or the unit is necessary. It is not a sign of unit defect. In most cases a thorough cleaning will return the unit to normal operation.

How to clean

Cleaning the Collection Blade:

Unplug the unit before cleaning. Remove the collection blade by pulling it from the top of the unit and wipe off the dust from each of the three collection bars with soft cloth. Invert the entire unit for two or three times before re-inserting the collection blade to the unit.

Through CleaningThrough Cleaning:

If the air purifier makes noise during operation, a thorough cleaning of the unit is necessary. Wash the collection blade with warm soapy water, rinse and allow it to dry for 24 hours before re-inserting to the unit. Bring the unit outside. Use a compressed gas dusting the air purifier to remove any accumulated particles from the ionizing wires and to blow out any dust that is settled in the base of the unit.
